Essay on constitution day (Paragraph on constitution day)

The Constitution of India is the supreme law of India. It lays down the framework defining fundamental political principles, establishes the structure, procedures, powers, and duties of government institutions, and sets out fundamental rights, directive principles, and the duties of citizens. It is the longest constitution in the world.

The Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949 and came into effect on 26 January 1950. The date 26 January was chosen to commemorate the Purna Swaraj declaration of independence of 1930. With its adoption, the Union of India became the modern and contemporary Republic of India replacing the Government of India Act 1935 as the country’s fundamental governing document.

The Constitution declares India a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic with an independent judiciary. It guarantees equality of opportunity to all citizens, irrespective of their caste, creed, or religion. It abolishes untouchability and prohibits discrimination on grounds only of religion, race, caste, sex, or place of birth.

It also guarantees equality of opportunity to all citizens in matters relating to employment or appointment to any office under the State. The Constitution also provides for freedom of religion; however, it places certain restrictions on this right in order to maintain communal harmony and peace in the country.

For instance, it prohibits the propagation of religious hatred or violence. Constitution day (or Samvidhan Divas) is celebrated every year on 26th November to mark the occasion of the adoption of the Constitution of India.

On this day, we remember the framers of our Constitution, who drafted it with wisdom and foresight. We also reaffirm our pledge to uphold the values and ideals of our Constitution and to work towards building a stronger and more prosperous India for all its citizens.
