Lachit Borphukan: The Legendary Ahom Warrior

Lachit Borphukan was a famous military leader in the 17th century

He was best known for his victory against the invading forces of the Mughal Empire.

He was born into a royal family of the Kingdom of Koch, in present-day Assam.

He quickly rose through the ranks of the Ahom army and was appointed as the commander-in-chief by King Swargadeo Chakradhwaj Singha.

1. In 1671, Lachit led the Ahom army to victory against Mughal forces in the Battle of Saraighat.

Lachit is revered as a hero in Assam and is considered one of the greatest generals in Indian history.

His statue has been installed at many places across Assam

He is still revered as a national hero and is an inspiration to many people in Assam today.
