Winner of $1.35 billion Mega Millions jackpot comes forward

The $1.35 billion Mega Millions jackpot winner has been identified.

As reported by the Maine Lottery, it was done via the limited liability business LaKoma Island Investments, LLC.

The winner reportedly selected the cash option, which entails a one-time, lump-sum payment of $723,564,144 before taxes, according to the Maine Lottery.

The recipient is carefully pondering how to use the potentially life-changing award.

Lottery winners are not compelled to declare their winnings in their own names since the law defines a person as not just an individual but also a business, limited liability company, eand more.

According to a DAFS official, lottery winners who are worried about preserving their personal identity can and do establish up LLCs, trusts, and other legal companies for the purpose of collecting their wins, even though the identities of winners are theoretically public records.

Instead of the winner's name, the name of the trust would appear in the public record.

The Hometown Gas & Restaurant in Lebanon, Maine is where the winning Mega Millions ticket for the January 13 drawing was purchased.
